"Rachel actually taught me WHAT to do when I gave birth. She taught me the importance of practicing for this "event" and also helped me see what an important and mysterious role my baby plays in the birth. With this, I could drop into a level of acceptance and surrender that I now know is possible."
This comprehensive childbirth education class will put you at ease, build your confidence and get you excited for the experience of giving birth. HypnoBirthing is a method of childbirth preparation that teaches women and their birth partners techniques of hypnosis, relaxation, visualization, and breathing in order to have a safer, calmer, and more positive birthing experience. This preparation promotes a deeper connection between partners, a joyful anticipation of bringing your baby into the world, and a commitment to focusing on birth as normal, natural and safe. First-time parents are welcome, as are second time parents who wish to have a better experience.

In addition to the usual topics covered in a childbirth education class such as stages of labor, special circumstances, birth plans, and routine procedures, you will also learn:

  • relaxation and self-hypnosis techniques to strengthen your confidence, calm your body and mind, and increase your comfort during birth.
  • the body's natural process during labor in order to work with your body instead of against it.
  • how to reduce or eliminate the fear and pain that unnecessarily accompany birth.
  • to use affirmations to promote a positive response in your birthing body.

Each class in the series has a particular theme:
  • Self Reliance: Looking inward for strength and understanding yourself
  • Anatomy and physiology of birth: Why relaxation is so important
  • Breath: What happens during labor and how to use your breath
  • Logistics: what kind of care will you receive during and after the birth and when interventions are therapeutic
  • Practice: Connecting with yourself and your partner and putting all the techniques to use
